Typical Thriller Synopses
Action Thriller
A thriller subgenre in which the protagonist confronts dangerous adversaries, obstacles, or situations which he/she must conquer.
Crime Thriller
A blend between Crime films and the Thriller genre, that offers a suspenseful account of a successful or failed crime or crimes. These films often focus on the criminals rather than the police.
Horror Thriller
A sub-genre that blends the horror and thriller genres: focusing on suspense, tension and adrenaline while having an emphasis on fear and terror.
Physiological Thriller
In which the conflict between the main characters is mental and emotional, rather than physical, until the end of the narrative in which the scenes become physically violent. Characters, either by accident or their own curiousness, are dragged into a dangerous conflict or situation that they are not prepared to resolve.
Erotic Thriller
A subgenre of thriller that has emphasis on a sexual relationship within the narrative.
Legal Thriller
A thriller in which the major characters are lawyers and related law employees.
Political Thriller
A type of subgenre in which the protagonist must ensure the stability of the government that employs them.

A subgenre of thriller in which the protagonist is generally a government agent who must take violent action against agents of a rival government or terrorists.
Techno Thriller
A subgenre of Thriller in which the manipulation of technology plays a major part.
