Sub-genre Shots

Sub-Genre; supernatural-thriller.
 • Long shot
 • The picture shows this sub-genre because it could be from a point of view from a supernatural being (unexplainable presence)
• WWW - The shallow focus, which makes the subject stand out and the lighting which adds to a form of suspense to what is happening.
• EBI - If it was taken from a different side so that it wasn’t only the back but a part of the face.

Sub-Genre; Action-thriller
• Low angle
• The picture reflect this because the subject could be running up the stairs chasing someone (good guy vs bad guy)
 • WWW - The way the shot is framed at the top and bottom by the steps of the stairs and the contrast between dark and light.
 • EBI - If there was a better focus point, or if the focus point was clearer.

For this task we were told to go and take a minimum of ten shots as a group that could each represent a different type of sub-genre within the thriller genre section, each of the shots also had to be taken using a different angle.
From this task I learnt what makes an effective shot, so that from that specific shot the audience are hooked on what is to come up next.
For our opening scene I will try to introduce a variety of shot types that are interesting and that could add suspense to the opening scene which in turn would hook the audience so that they keep on watching the rest of the film.
