Audience Research
Jason Bourne Poster

The Facebook page for Jason Bourne film.
A screenshot from the trailer with the trailer below.
Jason Bourne suggests that the film is targeted at an audience that has the demographics and physiographic that they are young(16 - 30) and middle-aged (30 - 50) males, in the middle class, that have watched the previous films, and that enjoy the spy-thriller / action-thriller genres. It is suggested that the psychographics of the target audience include This audience is targeted through the colours used in the background(black) and in the foreground(white) is imposing to the audience, with the font suggesting the film will be action-packed and imposing a sense of mystery to the audience.
By analysing the target audience of other thriller films, this makes us think about which group of people our thriller is to target. I have learnt that every film has a specific target audience and also that our film should have a specific target audience, therefore we should spend some time, while planning, to asses who our target audience is going to be.

Audience Research; Girl on The Train

I have chosen to analyse what the target audience may be for the movie The Girl On The Train, and I have come to the conclusion that the movie is targeted mainly at women in their mid 20's and early 30's who are succeeders and resigned, who may work part time or commute daily therefore they are aware of the daily commute which may have something to do with the title, when it comes to psychographics and here are my reasons why. Firstly the movie poster is used to advertise the movie and target the audience because it is a woman on the poster which is in her late 20's to know her story because they want to feel empathy and they probably would understand how she feels.
The website of the movie is advertising the movie and targeting the audience because it introduces the characters and there are pictures of the characters that show them a little bit more clearly than the trailer, these pictures include the male characters that the women which are most likely the target audience may like and even be attracted to them. The trailer gives an insight to what the movie is about and focuses on the fact that the two main characters in the movie are women which may be the reason because this movie is targeted at women because it focuses on a woman who has witnessed a crime and the victim which is a woman.
The social media sites target the audience and advertises the movie because it is something that most people now a days use and so easily could be shown to come up in people's feed or suggested videos to watch on YouTube or maybe even pages on Facebook that they would most likely be interested in.Titles
I think that the filmed title, The Runner, was the more effective title because it included a better font for the titles and included first-hand camera-work, which the second, The Hit, did not include.
What Went Well: It had images that linked directly to the narrative. The titles linked well to the narrative and the images in the titles as the colour sticks-out to the audience in the vibrant colours of the images, as well as the font bearing resemblance to text used by clubs and nightclubs which suggest the setting of the narrative.
Even Better If: Better sources and possible computer animated instead of several still images.
What Went Well: The scene immediately links to the narrative due to the sock hanging out of the trainer, which links to one of the main characters, the runner. The font can be easily seen and catches the audiences attention as the titles appear and disappear.
Even Better If: There were more shots as there are not many shots used. Handling of the camera can also be improved.
For our opening scene we will use the plain white text but have it scroll across the screen so that it is easy enough for the audience to read on the darker background.
